French language and culture
From the 1 to the 13 th August 2010
The objective is to facilitate the coming together of young people from many different cultural horizons, so that they may get to know each other, and study the French language and culture together.
A Word Journey
From basic vocabulary to understanding idiomatic expressions, taking in the grammatical points which distinguish one language from another.
French Cinema
An enlightening look at the most recent French films, followed by a vocabulary test and use of audio visual equipment .
Daily Life
Outings to (amongst other places) Le Chambon market, giving students a chance to practice everyday French.
Other Activities
As well as language and culture lessons, there are courses in fine arts and sporting activities. Students can also take part in other cultural pursuits, such as cinema, conferences, and excursions etc.
A Typical Day
- 8 am to 11.45 am: Lessons
- 12 noon: Lunch
- 1.30 pm to 3 pm: Lessons
- 3.30 pm to 5.30 pm: Lessons
- 7 pm: Dinner
- 8.30 pm to 10 pm: Cultural activities and Sports
The office is open at certain hours of the day. Activities are organised at the weekend.
Revision courses
From the 3 to the 15 th August 2008
Open to students from year one to year six inclusive
Intensive revision courses focused around three subjects :
- French, or an initiation course in Philosophy
- Maths or Physics
- English, Spanish (if enough students)
Class sizes are intentionally reduced
Welcome for students : Sunday Aug. 3 th from 2pm
Course Objectives
- Bringing the students' knowledge back up to date for the start of the new academic year
- Offering individual assistance and guidance
- Improving working methods
- Offering the student a chance to take part in cultural activities and sports
